Damnit Marines, wtf man? I mean, wtf?
By now, I'm sure most of you have at least heard about the YouTube video of the Marine supposedly tossing a puppy over a cliff. I won't link it here, because I refuse to validify it. I won't give it additional exposure to the light of day. If the video is true and accurate, I hope that Marine and anyone laughing burns in fucking Hell. Cat person though I be, I do still love dogs (my family had a West Highland White Terrier from puppy to death-by-old-age when I was growing up).
However, as outraged as we should be at the mistreatment of animals (I've had to stop watching Animal Planet's Animal Precinct before bed because it pisses me off so much), we need to keep a few things in mind:
- While near-superhuman in valor and courage, Marines are human beings. You get horrible people in the Marines, just like you get horrible people in your town. There is bound to be some truly sick fucks in The Corps.
- These might not, in fact, be Marines. You can get a uniform and haircut anywhere.
Now, those two might sound like I'm copping out, and giving the Marines a pass, but I'm not. If these are Marines tossing a puppy, they need o be punished, no two ways. But don't blame the Marines (who are already looking into this, and you can bet they'll fall hard on these guys). The Marines didn't make this guy the monster, he was already like that. He just managed to get into the Marines.
